Moises (Moe) Ramos II

Instrument: Guitar
Education: BA & MAT in Secondary Education from Austin College in Sherman, TX
Hometown: Palmview, TX,

While attending an health-magnet high-school with an intention to pursue a career in medicine, a few choice teachers changed Mr. Ramos life and made him realize that he had a real calling for being in a classroom. It is with this new mindset that Moe embarked on a career in teaching. After working as a classroom teacher for a few years, he stepped away to investigate other ventures, ultimately finding himself teaching again, but this new teaching experience involved the formal instruction of one of his great passions - the guitar. Moe worked with students between the ages of 4-19, having to be flexible to varied learning styles and abilities. In this new capacity, he taught everything from simplified versions of Beethoven, all the way through Taylor Swift, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Third Day, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to name a few. Whether it is the acoustic guitar or the electric guitar, Mr. Ramos is capable of helping a student explore their choice of instrument in their choice of music. Most of his work on the guitar tends to be specific to rock music and heavy metal/hard rock, country, pop rock, and classical. These are Moe’s words about his passion for teaching:

“I love to teach. There is something that is truly magical when a student, whether in a practice room on a guitar or sitting in a desk in a classroom, is able to take information that you are putting in front of them and is enthralled by their ability to do something extraordinary. When it comes to teaching the guitar, it is a blast to watch a student play something they only thought could come to them in the form of a song on the radio. My strengths in teaching lie in my ability to make things fun and enjoyable. So long as my students are relaxed and willing to put the work into it, I can bet they will do great things on the guitar”.

Edward Song started the cello at the age of six.  His most memorable moment was when he was 11, where he placed 1st in his first competition ever, the Dallas Symphonic Festival.  He later placed 1st in all the remaining divisions the following years.   In 2005, he won grand prize at the Colin Country Young Artist Competition and got to play with the Plano Symphony Orchestra.  In 2006 he was awarded grand prize at the Lewisville Lake Symphony Young Artist Competition and played with the Lewisville Lake Symphony.  He was in Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra for 5 years and was principle for 2 years.

Mr. Song went to Indiana University of Bloomington's Jacob's School of Music for cello music performance, where he was awarded the Indiana University Music Faculty Scholarship, E & E Knapik Scholarship, and Sheila Harms young artist scholarship.

As a teacher, Edward has taught students at the Indiana University string academy. He is also a UIL and all region/state coach with track record success. He has taught privately for 2 years. Mr. Song was also a elementary after school music counselor, and enjoys teaching children.
